Chelsea Retirement Community: Fighting Alzheimer’s One Step at a Time

Kori Rochefort, a team member of Chelsea Retirement Community (CRC) for more than twenty years, takes the reigns as this year’s captain for the 2022 Walk to End Alzheimer’s CRC walk team! The annual Washtenaw County walk is held in Ann Arbor, but this year, Kori has helped organize an on-campus walk to increase participation throughout the community. Currently, there are over 100 participants signed up!

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is a cause that Kori holds near and dear to her heart. Every day, Kori and her engagement team work tirelessly to fulfill the wellness needs of over 120 residents at Glazier Commons Assisted Living and Towsley Village Memory Care Center. For Kori, it is also personal, having served as a caregiver to her own grandma and grandpa who suffered from Alzheimer’s.

Not only has Kori participated in local walks since 2014, she is also now leading the cause to raise dollars and bring together the community to raise awareness. With the help of fellow team members Deborah Erke, Tylene Costello, and many more, they are well on their way to reaching their goal of raising $5,000. Through unique fundraisers like a bake sale and plant sale, these team members try to find ways to make it easy for the whole community to play a role.

Kori has shared the best thing about the Alzheimer’s Walk is how it brings everyone together. “Not only do team members participate, but our residents as well. It truly brings together everyone on the campus, from assisted living to independent living and the leadership team,” says Kori. “Our Towsley Village residents even make items for the bake sale! It is a team effort!”

There is still time to donate to the cause and join the campus walk!
