Happy Pride Month!
June is Pride Month, a time to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community, and our residents, participants, families, team members, and leadership of Brio Living Services who identify within it. Brio Living Services has made inclusivity a priority in its Mission Statement: “Welcoming all, partnering together, enriching lives.” Inclusiveness is also an important element of Brio’s guiding beliefs, detailed as, “We welcome all, regardless of faith, national origin, or any aspect of human diversity, and want all who live, work, and receive services with us to feel welcomed, embraced, and invited to participate.”
One way that Brio Living Services has prioritized inclusiveness is by creating a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee made up of leadership and team members committed to making Brio a safe, welcoming place to live and work. DEI Committee member Amy Genthe, Director of Quality and Compliance for Home Care, explains, “The DEI Committee at Brio Living Services is composed of team members shore to shore, in direct care, support, and management roles. Our purpose is to foster a sense of belonging for all team members, residents, participants, patients, and visitors. Rather than simply ‘including’ people, we want to celebrate all the ways that we are unique and special and ensure that we uphold the Brio mission.”
To show our commitment to honoring Pride Month, members of the DEI committee will be attending the Grand Rapids Pride Festival on June 17. We encourage team members outside the DEI committee to attend as well. Amy says, “The DEI Committee is excited to show our support for current and future LGBTQIA+ team members, residents, and participants through our participation in the Grand Rapids Pride Festival! Team members from both sides of the state will attend to demonstrate the Brio values of inclusivity and wellness to the larger LGBTQIA+ community and their allies.”
