National Wellness Month
Brio Living Services is happy to celebrate National Wellness Month in August! One of Brio’s six guiding beliefs is “wellness,” which states: “in partnership with our team members, we attend to mind, body, and spiritual wellness, as well as the independence, engagement, and joy for all we serve.” We strive to ensure not only our residents, elders, and participants are given ample opportunities for wellness, but also hope to provide those same opportunities for our team members.
How fitting that many of us are currently enjoying the Summer Olympics in Paris; cheering on our home countries in varied sports such as gymnastics, water polo, volleyball, and more. Our dedicated team members at LifeCircles PACE have been busy bringing the Olympics straight to their participants, creating fun events such as Javelin to incorporate some fun into their daily wellness activities. The recreational therapy team says, says, “It’s all about staying active, enjoying friendly competition, and making great memories together.” Kudos to this talented team for bringing the Paris games to LifeCircles!
Team members like those and many more at Brio Living Services are the lifeline of our organization. From cooking and serving chef-prepared meals, to taking pride in the cleanliness and functionality of a home, to tending to a loved one’s care needs, Brio team members have a deep skillset and provide crucial services to all our communities and locations. Without them, we simply could not be in operation! That is why Brio Living Services cares about each team member as an individual; as much more than just an employee.
Beyond competitive wages and robust benefits package, Brio also offers a unique Wellness Program for team members. The Wellness Program aims to give team members ample opportunities that address every aspect of our being: financial, physical, spiritual, and emotional. Monthly offerings like financial webinars, access to free mental health and meditation apps, gym membership discounts, and an annual Couch to 5K program, keep team members engaged to actively and easily be in control of their overall wellness.
Each August, Brio hosts Wellness Fairs for its team members. These initiatives are coming soon to many of our locations! At Brio’s Health and Wellness Fairs, team members are invited to drop in to learn about local health and wellness resources available to them, chat with our health benefit carriers to learn more, and be entered into drawings for giveaways! Jessica Finley, Brio’s Benefits & Wellness Manager, states, “Here at Brio, work/life balance is important to us, which is why we also invite the local libraries, gyms, and YMCA’s to these events so our team members can become more familiar with events and activities going on within their own communities.”
Jessica also makes it easy for anyone to attend these fairs, with offerings at our locations across the state for easy access for any of our 1,350 team members. Check out the schedule below:
August 6: LifeCircles Muskegon & Holland
August 7: Porter Hills Village
August 12: Chelsea Retirement Community
August 13: Huron Valley PACE and Thome PACE
Also starting in August, is Brio’s annual Couch to 5K program! Participants connect daily and weekly on a running app and in support groups and receive weekly workouts, all with the goal of completing a 5K race by October. So far, the program has nearly 20 participants and is still accepting more! If you are interested in information on the Health & Wellness Fairs, or the Couch to 5K program, please reach out to JFinley@MyBrio.org.
Brio Living Services wishes our residents, participants, elders, and team members, a happy Wellness Month in August!
