Brio Living Services and UMRC-Porter Hills Foundation Welcome New Board Members
Brio Living Services and its fundraising arm, the UMRC-Porter Hills Foundation, are delighted to announce the addition of new members to their Boards, effective July 1, 2026.
Joining the Brio Living Services governing Board of Trustees are John Shull of Grand Rapids and Edward Southworth of Saugatuck.
John Shull brings decades of expertise in business, healthcare, and operations management to the Brio Living Services Board of Trustees. He is the founder and president of Shull Business Insights, a consulting firm started in 2024 to help clients overcome leadership, operational, and strategic challenges. Prior to starting his own company, Shull served as an executive with Corewell Health, the largest employer and health system in Michigan, where he led the clinical areas of Surgical Services, Radiology, and Respiratory Care.
Edward Southworth is returning to service on the Brio Living Services Board of Trustees. Southworth has more than 40 years of experience in healthcare, with more than two decades serving at CareLinc Medical Equipment & Supply as its Senior Vice President of Sales and Business Development. He has served on numerous boards, including as a member of the Health Care Association of Michigan (HCAM) governing board for four years.
“We are delighted to welcome John and Ed to the Brio governing board,” said Brio Living Services Board Chair, Russ Ives. “Their collective business acumen and insights will be an invaluable asset to our Board and help us guide Brio Living Services into the future as we grow our mission of service for older adults.”
Joining the UMRC-Porter Hills Foundation Board of Directors are Melinda Booth of Rochester Hills, and David Bellamy and Lisa Knight of Grand Rapids.
Melinda Booth is an experienced communication and marketing leader with expertise in driving organizational growth and supporting fundraising efforts. In 2025, Booth became the Director of Marketing and Communications for Leader Dogs for the Blind in Rochester Hills. Previously, she held progressively responsible positions at Alma College, her alma mater, within its communications, marketing and advancement teams, most recently as Vice President for Communication and Marketing.
Since 2020, David Bellamy has served as Chief Executive Officer for Catholic Charities West Michigan, a community-based social service agency providing programs centered around family preservation and child welfare, behavior health services, and a variety of outreach programs which help West Michigan families and individuals to flourish. An active member of his community, Bellamy brings decades of healthcare and finance experience to the UMRC-Porter Hills Foundation Board.
Lisa Knight is a community leader who brings a proven track record of managing and promoting long-term partnerships within the nonprofit sector. Since 2022, she has served as Chief Executive Officer for the Girls Choral Academy in Grand Rapids, where she has been instrumental in promoting diversity in recruitment, fostering a culture of excellence, and collaborating with the board and staff to fulfill the nonprofit’s mission through strategic planning, fiscal integrity, and community outreach.
Will Epps IV, the Foundation’s new Board Chair effective July 1, 2026, said, “I am pleased to welcome Melinda, David, and Lisa to our Board. As we continue our efforts to ensure a world in which older adults of all walks of life have the ability to age well, the knowledge, skills, and commitment of our new members offer an added dimension and a fresh perspective to the Board, and I look forward to working with them in support of our mission.”
